Dear Dr. Thomas,

Do you work with transgender men whose voices have not sufficiently dropped on hormone replacement therapy?

Thank you

I have, though I will say that it is a tough problem to solve. It is possible to drop the pitch, although some surgical procedures will also reduce the volume significantly. Another issue is resonance which requires a larger throat to amplify lower pitches. Certainly an examination will help to determine what could or could not be done.
