Laryngeal video recordings: Polyps

The effect of vocal polyps on voice as the pitch is varied is demonstrated. Orientation is discussed here.

  • Scope: Rigid
  • View: Standard
  • Light: Strobe
  • Pitch: Rise - note onset delays as pitch increases and vocal cords tighten
  • Content: At low pressures (volume) the vocal cords stop vibrating when the polyps touch. Increasing the breath pressure starts them vibrating again at a louder volume but with more air leakage. At the highest pitch the front and back half of the vocal cords vibrate separately creating two tones (diplophonia).
