I live in Australia and have had a deep husky voice for a female, it has really lowered myself esteem over the years and often I am mistaken as a man on the phone. If I try and speak lower people can&#039;t understand me so I raise my voice and I am always told to stop yelling. Is there any thing you can help me with as I would organise a trip tomorrow to the USA if so. Would love to know about cost also. I assume you would have to hear my voice? I was not given a prescription but instead was given an info sheet on diet changes etc.</p> <p>Anyways, through some more deduction I came to the conclusion that I specifically had LPR, and I tried various treatment options with moderate success. It wasn&#039;t until this summer that I finally found a treatment that seems to block the reflux, so now my larynx can properly heal.</p> <p>I&#039;ve heard that LPR often takes a long time to heal, like close to a year or at the very least multiple months. Is this true? It&#039;s just that as a singer it&#039;s frustrating that it seems like I haven&#039;t regained any of my lost range etc and I guess I want some reassurance that I&#039;m most likely healing and eventually I&#039;ll be back to 100%.</p> <p>Also, according to my diagnosis form he gave me the primary diagnosis is listed as &quot;slight gap&quot; and the secondary diagnosis is &quot;?PABRLN TA subtle&quot;. Is this anything I should know or be concerned about? I&#039;d imagine it&#039;s not since he didn&#039;t mention any of it but for all I know he didn&#039;t think these diagnoses could be causing my trouble but maybe I didn&#039;t tell one of the nitty gritty or small details which would have been key. </p> <p>Thanks!</p> </div></div></div> Tue, 09 Sep 2014 05:02:39 +0000 jco5055 1212 at http://old.voicedoctor.net http://old.voicedoctor.net/forum/lpr-healing-timediagnosis-voice-doc#comments several problems http://old.voicedoctor.net/forum/several-problems-0 <div class="field field-name-taxonomy-forums field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Forums:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" rel="sioc:has_container"><a href="/forums/general-discussion" typeof="sioc:Container sioc:Forum" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">General discussion</a></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-forum-image field-type-image field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><a href="http://old.voicedoctor.net/sites/default/files/20140419_190726%20%5B1280x768%5D.jpg" title="several problems" class="colorbox" rel="gallery-1184"><img typeof="foaf:Image" src="http://old.voicedoctor.net/sites/default/files/styles/medium/public/20140419_190726%20%5B1280x768%5D.jpg?itok=jAr5h0ln" width="220" height="165" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div></div> Sat, 19 Apr 2014 15:20:00 +0000 peuse 1184 at http://old.voicedoctor.net http://old.voicedoctor.net/forum/several-problems-0#comments has surgery disadvantage for voice for cleaning voice of lumps? http://old.voicedoctor.net/forum/has-surgery-disadvantage-voice-cleaning-voice-lumps <div class="field field-name-taxonomy-forums field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Forums:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" rel="sioc:has_container"><a href="/forums/general-discussion" typeof="sioc:Container sioc:Forum" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">General discussion</a></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p>Hi.about one month ago I asked you about arytenoid dislocation &amp; I explained all of my problems for you in a subject (several problem(chronic nodules ....) &amp; now i have had a strobovideo laryngoscopy 2 hours ago.&amp; now the voice therapist says it s not nodule it s polyp.how does a nodule changed to a polyp when I am always silent?&amp; what s white tissue on it?&amp; i have had to say before these explanation that i have got a little better in speaking in comparison with 1 month ago.I upload my larynx photo here. Please see and give your opinion..this is video html:<a href="http://www.uplooder.net/cgi-bin/dl.cgi?key=9135efd8a8da4cb38c7911014f670c0a">http://www.uplooder.net/cgi-bin/dl.cgi?key=9135efd8a8da4cb38c7911014f670c0a</a><br /> So if it will be necessary for me to have surgery for cleaning the vocal cord of lumps(polyps, cysts,…I don’t know) does the surgery affect on or reduce the extent(high ptch low pitch..) of my voice?<br /> And if you have any advice before surgery for me I would be happy to know.<br /> Thank for your nice informational website &amp; your good useful research</p> </div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-forum-image field-type-image field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><a href="http://old.voicedoctor.net/sites/default/files/20140419_190726%20%5B1280x768%5D.jpg" title="has surgery disadvantage for voice for cleaning voice of lumps?" class="colorbox" rel="gallery-1183"><img typeof="foaf:Image" src="http://old.voicedoctor.net/sites/default/files/styles/medium/public/20140419_190726%20%5B1280x768%5D.jpg?itok=jAr5h0ln" width="220" height="165" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div></div> Sat, 19 Apr 2014 15:18:36 +0000 peuse 1183 at http://old.voicedoctor.net http://old.voicedoctor.net/forum/has-surgery-disadvantage-voice-cleaning-voice-lumps#comments Voice is good up until late morning then... http://old.voicedoctor.net/forum/voice-good-until-late-morning-then <div class="field field-name-taxonomy-forums field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Forums:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" rel="sioc:has_container"><a href="/forums/general-discussion" typeof="sioc:Container sioc:Forum" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">General discussion</a></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p>Hi I am a male and seem to have that morning voice issue where my voice is quite fine up until midday then it gets raspy and high pitched towards the evening. I&#039;ve never tried medication or treatment mainly because it really is very temperamental. The majority of the time it is tolerable and ok but sometimes it literally is horrific. One thing that seems to help I believe is cardio activity and then lots of water afterwards. I find my voice is almost acceptable in depth if I do this, but only half an hour or so after the activity. if I don&#039;t exercise or especially if I am very tired my voice is terrible and could quite easily be compared to a female voice. Sometimes when I&#039;m drunk it seems to get worse as well, which is strange because I usually always thought alcohol made it better and relaxed my body and organs and everything. By the way this all started from smoking marijuana heavily when I was a teenager.I have stopped for 10 years yet it remains the same... Can you shed any light on this? Could it be nodules or systs etc? I have experienced many difficult times from this and unbelievable anxiety from it as well.... As I said I&#039;ve never got my vocal chords checked because my voice isn&#039;t bad all the time and can be tolerable. Thanks.</p> </div></div></div> Tue, 25 Mar 2014 08:38:12 +0000 peterpan246 1175 at http://old.voicedoctor.net http://old.voicedoctor.net/forum/voice-good-until-late-morning-then#comments Revision http://old.voicedoctor.net/forum/revision <div class="field field-name-taxonomy-forums field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Forums:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" rel="sioc:has_container"><a href="/forums/general-discussion" typeof="sioc:Container sioc:Forum" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">General discussion</a></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p>I found a website that said 16 patients out of 22 had revision surgery to add more bulk to the implant.
