It becomes more apparent when I close my mouth to mute off the mouth&#039;s resonance. Is that the resonance produced by the pharynx? Does the length of the vocal tract also affect this pitch?<br /> (Sorry for going off tangent here, but how effective is speech therapy in raising the pharynx resonance, if at all?)</p> <p>I am curious whether the thyrohyoid elevation procedure (if that is the one which addresses this issue) could be exaggerated/amplified to raise a whole octave, not just a few pitches, to reach an unmistakable female tone than a woman with a deep voice? What are the additional risks?<br /> This is a major concern since it is probably the way a male and female voice is differentiated.</p> <p>I am 26 years old with an average male voice.</p> </div></div></div> Fri, 27 Mar 2015 08:23:57 +0000 canjen 1255 at http://old.voicedoctor.net http://old.voicedoctor.net/forum/exaggerate-procedures#comments Presurgery speech therapy http://old.voicedoctor.net/forum/presurgery-speech-therapy <div class="field field-name-taxonomy-forums field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Forums:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" rel="sioc:has_container"><a href="/forums/transgender-voice" typeof="sioc:Container sioc:Forum" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">Transgender voice</a></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p>Hi Dr. Thomas</p> <p>I was wondering how long you like clients to attend speech therapy before undergoing feminisation laryngoplasty? More importantly would my singing voice be in a female pitch? Singing has always been a very big part of my male life and I would like to bring my gift with me in my new life. My style of singing is very soulful/R&amp;B/Pop (Beyonce, Joss Stone, Christina). I&#039;ve attempted in the past to train my voice to so that I may sing more feminine, but to no avail. My voice just sounded strained and &quot;Minne mouse&quot; like. My regular talking voice sounds very feminine, but can become rather raspy very quickly even just talking at a normal indoors volume. At times my talking voice can become little bassy as I unintentional start to relax the muscles. Also sneezing and throat and coughing can become a rather embrasssing activity if I&#039;m not careful. So I&#039;m rather interested in this surgery. Thank you for your time and can&#039;t wait for your reply.</p> <p>-Monica</p> </div></div></div> Mon, 07 May 2012 06:23:00 +0000 only.for.fun.stuff22 591 at http://old.voicedoctor.net http://old.voicedoctor.net/forum/singing-after-feminization-laryngoplasty#comments Is it possible http://old.voicedoctor.net/forum/it-possible <div class="field field-name-taxonomy-forums field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Forums:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" rel="sioc:has_container"><a href="/forums/transgender-voice" typeof="sioc:Container sioc:Forum" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">Transgender voice</a></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p> </p> <div> I am a 25yrs man.I am live in India(West Bengal,Calcutta).
