Academies / Groups

These are organizations, usually geographically based that represent the interests of its members. They may be strictly educational or have political motivations. Members of the groups listed here are principally physicians and principally otolaryngologists.

National

American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery This is the main group representing Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeons in the US. They have a very general thought guide on hoarseness.

American Board of Otolaryngology is the national board that certifies training for otolaryngologists in the US.

Pacific Voice and Speech Foundation hosts a biennial conference in San Francisco that pits or encourages competing ideas and opinions about voice disorders and their care. The University of California, San Francisco has started hosting an annual conference.

Oregon Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery This group represents otolaryngologists from Oregon and southwestern Washington.
Northwest Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery This group represents otolaryngologists from Washington state.

National Center for Voice and Speech This group represents the research interests of four major institutions involved in voice research. It is a fascinating and extensive site. I know a number of the group members from national meetings and have found their research thought provoking and of a high caliber.

Oregon Speech-Language and Hearing Association This group represents Speech-Language Pathologists from Oregon state. top

Baylor College maintains a list of otolaryngology or ENT departments. top
