Discussion
Between May 1989 and June 1997, the senior author had seen and treated 431 SD patients with Botulinum Toxin Type A. Criteria for inclusion in the study were a) at least one previous treatment with Botulinum Toxin Type A for spasmodic dysphonia and b) no appointment within the previous 12 months. 208 of the 431 patients met these criteria and were surveyed by mail (Figure 1 - right). Using the simplest classification scheme, patients surveyed had adductor or abductor spasmodic dysphonia in a ratio of 10:1. Figure 1
